Lasik : Day of Procedure : FAQs : Reading Glasses

It's Limberg LASIK day!
        Here's what you can expect…

CONGRATULATIONS! Today is the day that will change the way you see the world.

All of the LASIK procedures are done at our state-of-the art surgery center in Arroyo Grande. The beautiful facility on Halcyon Road is the permanent home of the areas first VISX® Star S4 'Eye-Tracking' laser. The environment inside the surgery center is completely controlled to assure best results. The air is triple filtered to assure safety.

On surgery day you should eat a light meal, wear comfortable clothes and arrive 45 minutes before your procedure. The surgery room is kept cool so you might want to wear sweats.

Our team of highly skilled, friendly nurses will hold your hand throughout the entire process. They will test your vital signs and give you a mild sedative to make sure you are comfortable.

When it's time for the LASIK procedure, your only job is to lay flat and focus on the blinking red light. Your eyes will be treated one at a time. A devise will hold your eye open so that you can't blink. Dr. Limberg uses water to rinse each eye. Your eye will be completely numb, so you won't feel a thing. Our patients say "I had no idea it would be so easy! NO PAIN at all!"

Don't worry about coughing or sneezing during your LASIK procedure… our 'Eye-Tracker" will follow your eye and make sure your treatment is perfect! If there should be an earthquake or a large sudden movement, the laser will simply shut off and will not start again until the doctor is ready.

The average total surgery time is only about 12 minutes! Your vision will be dramatically improved seconds after the procedure. When you sit up you will be able to see Dr. Limberg smiling at you and you'll be able to read the clock! In most cases, it's the first time in years that our patients are able to see the clock on the wall. Your vision will be a bit fuzzy, like you are in a sauna. This will diminish over the next few hours as you discover crisp, clear vision.

LASIK patients will need someone to drive them home. You are asked to keep your eyes closed and go home to rest. The sedative will help you nap. You'll be given stylish looking goggles to protect your eyes. Patients will wear these goggle until their next office visit, usually 24 hours later. Patients will also wear the goggles to bed for one week to make sure they don't rub their eyes during sleep.

The next day, patients arrive for their quick post-op check. The great percentage of patients at Limberg Eye Surgery are 20/20 or even better 20/15 the very next day!

You'll hear our patients say "I read the newspaper for the first time today without glasses" or "I noticed every leaf on every tree on the drive to your office!"

The Limberg LASIK team will follow you closely for one year after surgery to make sure you are completely happy with your new vision!
